Around Rio Manzolo
Historically
Romagna is a warm and welcoming country.
The friendliness you find in people can also be found in landscapes, where
nature and cultivated land complement each other in harmony.
The hills of Romagna near Faenza, Brisighella and Riolo Terme are very
fascinating for several elements, such as ravines sprangled of Genistas,
Tamerisks, Umbrella Pines and Cypresses.
Along the mountain in the background you can visit the biggest site of chalk
rocks (selenites) in Europe with a natural environment rich of rare plants and
karst caves.
Starting from Rio Manzolo in a short time you can visit several interesting
places:
-
Faenza (15 km): is a beautiful town famous all over the world for pottery and
artistic ceramics, the International Museum of Ceramics (M.I.C.), the
Neoclassical Art Museum of Romagna, several historical events recollections
(like "Palio del Niballo").
-
Brisighella (6 km): is a charming medieval hamlet (one of the 100 finest
Italian villages). Three steep hills are looking over the village and the
valley: om the first you can see the Watch Tower, on the second the Venician
Castle (built around the 16th century), at third the "Madonna of Monticino"
sanctuary. In Brisighella you can see festivals with tipical products (like the
tipical extra virgin olive oil "Brisighello") and historical recollections
(like the Medieval Festival).
-
Riolo Terme (4 km): is an important termal town with gastronomic and folk
festivals.
-
Casola Valsenio (14 km): is a picturesque hilly village famous for the
Officinal Herbs Garden, and for the "Forgotten Fruits" and the little market.
- Imola (10km): is famous for the important racing circuit "Enzo e Dino Ferrari", where the Superbike stage is annually held.
-
Ravenna (40 km): ancient and famous city, capital of the Roman Empire for a
short time, with important Byzantine mosaics.
-
Florence (90 km).
-
Venice (200 km).
